Helpful Tips

If you linked to us from UnFranchise.com and are having trouble ordering from our website, then retype http://www.marketamericagear.com in your address bar. This will take you directly to this site. Some have reported trouble using the shopping cart after linking from UnFranchise.com. Errors that occur include "empty shopping cart" or "page does not exist". If problems persist after this, check out the troubleshooting info below.


For Windows 98 or lower users our technical support suggests this about the

"empty shopping cart" &  “page does not exist” message:

After testing it out on every platform and browser and version available to us (which includes both Macintosh and PC, several versions of Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera, and AOL), we can only duplicate the reported problem (i.e., when you click on "Add to Cart" you get the message that "Your cart is empty" or when logging in you get error message “page does not exist”) if we disable/disallow cookies in our browser settings. Individual users have the ability to edit the settings that their browsers use for various things, including whether or not they allow a website to set a cookie on their computer so that it can recognize them the next time they come back to the site. Our shopping cart does use cookies, in a very limited role. But, by disallowing cookies, I am not able to use the shopping cart to purchase products. I can browse the products, but I can't purchase them.

 

As an immediate fix for customers who wish to order products you can direct them to allow cookies in their browser settings, and then they should be able to purchase the products.

 

This can be reached in your control panel under internet options, security, internet, custom level, cookies - enable. This will vary to some degree on different computers.

 

For browser versions later than Windows 98, our technical support suggests this about the "empty shopping cart problem":

There are two possibilities to why cookies are being blocked. The first is they have their security settings too high on their browser. Follow the instructions below to fix this issue:

 

1.  Open Internet Explorer

2.  Click Tools

3.  Choose Internet Options

4.  Click on the Privacy tab

5.  Set their Settings to Medium ( some users must set to Low )

6.  Click Apply & OK

 

The other issue would be if they actually blocked cookies from your website. Follow the instructions below to check the status on that:

 

1.  Open Internet Explorer

2.  Click Tools

3.  Choose Internet Options

4.  Click on the Privacy tab

5.  Under the Web Sites section click on the Edit button

6.  Remove your web site address from the blocked list.

 

Note: You can actually override the security settings by typing in your website address in the same area above and click the Allow button. By doing this the browser will always accept cookie from your site. This is probably the best option.
